CANDICE L. BOSSE

Dr. Candice L. Bosse Torres, originally from Poland, resides in the United States and is an Assistant Professor of Hispanic Literature and Gender Studies at Keene State College, located in Keene, New Hampshire.  Dr. Bosse has received numerous grants, the most prestigious a Fulbright Fellowship at la Universidad Nacional de Autónoma de Honduras during the academic year 2011.  She has been widely published in both academic journals as well as books.  Her first book is entitled Becoming and Consumption:  the Contemporary Spanish Novel (2007).  Dr. Bosse has been awarded an advanced book contract with Editorial Guaymuras to publish her book—Voces de la mujer hondureña—that intends to bridge the gap between literary studies and an investigation of the actual conditions of Honduran women’s existence, focusing on their subservient and disempowered position.   This book project will combine an analysis of poetry with the development of voice, progressing toward greater autonomy for women by making them audible and visible on the political stage.

National Conference for Teachers of English

Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán (UPNFM) of Honduras is a higher educational institution that specializes in the training of teachers for all educational levels, taking into account the Honduran Secretary of Education (SE) policies to assure the implementation of the National Curriculum in public an private high schools. The permanent updating of in-service teachers is one of the main goals the University has as part of its outreach to the teachers' community. In this regard, UPNFM has organized bi-annual conferences, with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America, to meet the training needs teachers may have as well as to strengthen the English language alumni network. This year the English Program at UPNFM, is organizing the Seventh National Conference for Teachers of English, hoping to see you at this event.
